The reopening of cultural institutions in France having been pushed back, the Music Academy of Villecroze wishes to :
- Broaden the help they are offering to musicians via the first call for projects.
- Provide additional support to musicians as part of our call for projects.
Some of the successful applications will receive an additional grant, which could, for example, contribute to the costs of a communication agency.
The Music Academy of Villecroze is aware of how difficult this period is for musicians. As a result, we would like to support about fifteen musical projects.
We are organising two calls for projects, which include funding of up to €6,000 and €10,000 respectively.
Which projects ?
The Academy is opening applications for two calls for projects.
In order to encourage project originality, any form of musical project is welcome to apply.
You can apply for one call for projects, or for both.
1 : Funding for the filming and production of a promotional or artistic tool
This grant, limited to €4,000 maximum for a soloist, or €6,000 maximum for a music ensemble, aims to help musicians with the funding of an original musical project and will be split between :
- funding for the production of a promotionnel tool for a project or artist (for example, video clip, website) or an artistic tool.
- A grant of €1,500 maximum, to be used at the musicians discretion. This amount will be adjusted for ensembles.
AND / OR
2: A residency at Villecroze with potential funding
We are offering :
- an invitation for 5 to 7 days to the Music Academy of Villecroze, room and board provided, for the organisation of a musical project, as a soloist or with other artists.
- funding of up to €10,000 *, split between the funding of your project and a grant to be used at the musician's discretion.
This residency at Villecroze should ideally be associated with the filming and production of a short video highlighting the compatibility between your project and the Academy's premises in Villecroze.
* the exact amount of funding given to successful applicants will be set by the Music Academy of Villecroze after deliberation of your application.

For whom ?
You are a musician, instrumentalist, singer, soloist, chamber musician, member of an ensemble or a composer and :
- you have previously taken part in a masterclass at the Music Academy of Villecroze as an invited artist, professor or accompanist, or you have benefited from the loan of an instrument by the association El Pasito. For chamber music groups, at least one member must have taken part in a masterclass at Villecroze, or have been lent an instrument by the association El Pasito.
- you preferably live in mainland France (for the residency project only).
Due to travel restrictions linked to the global pandemic, priority will be given to applications from mainland France. However, applicants living abroad are welcome to apply. - you have a detailed and concrete musical project to submit.

- your CV - for ensembles, a CV per musician and a presentation of the ensemble
- a presentation of your project outlining it's originality, it's target audience and how our help will be useful to you
- a provisional budget, including any grants, bursaries or funding already received or requested

- for the promotional video-clip : a 1 page presentation of your video project
- for the residency in Villecroze : a 2 page presentation of your residency project in Villecroze, including how you plan to use the Academy's premises to enhance your project.

Application process :
- The deadlines in this call for projects must be adhered to, no late applications will be accepted.
- The Music Academy of Villecroze has full discretion of the choice of projects, and will not give any justification to projects that are not chosen.
- The results will be communicated to candidates mid February 2021.
- The Academy reserves the right to ask any further information that they deem necessary to the application process from candidates.
Conditions for the production of the promotional video-clip :
- The choice of producer, director, and any organisation related to filming and producing the video clip is the responsibility of the musician.
- Any costs related to the video clip will be reimbursed upon presentation of invoices, limited to the maximum amount initially set by the Music Academy of Villecroze
Conditions for the residences at Villecroze, subject to the development of the global pandemic :
- A maximum of 5 people per group is allowed for the residencies in Villecroze (excluding staff of the Academy and the 2 to 3 film crew members).
- Residency dates will be set around the Academy's availabilities, starting from 1st March 2021. The dates of the residencies are subject to change or cancellation, depending on the restrictions caused by the global pandemic.
- Transport to and from the train station "Les Arcs Draguignan" or to Nice Airport will be at the expense of the musicians.
- Room and board will be provided by the Music Academy of Villecroze.
- The Music Academy of Villecroze in favour of residencies ending with a closing concert, through a streaming platform. In this case, an extra 1000 euro will be made available to the candidate for it's organisation. The administrative organisation is the musicians' responsability - finding a producer for musicians fee's, SACEM declarations, streaming platform.
- Any costs related to the residency project will be reimbursed upon presentation of invoices, limited to the maximum amount initially set by the Music Academy of Villecroze.
