Thereafter Dominique Merlet followed a successful performing career, giving recitals and concerts in most of the european countries as well as in the United States of America, Canada, Brasil, China. He played in the festivals : Paris, Berlin, Bordeaux, Hong-Kong, Besançon, la Roque d'Anthéron and with orchestras under the direction of conductors such as Charles Münch, Paul Paray, Armin Jordan, Moshe Atzmon, Richard Hickox.... His recordings include Shumann, Weber, Brahms, Bartok, Liszt, Satie, Ravel (complete piano works), Chopin, Debussy and they received "Grands Prix du Disque" and "Diapason d'Or". 


Dominique Merlet is a distinguished teacher. Most of the young soloists who won international competitions have been his pupils at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. In 1992, he left this Conservatory for the Geneva Conservatory where he teaches to very selected pianists and has more time for himself and for his own career. He is invited also to give masterclasses in Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Czech Republic, South Korea and he is a jury's member of the international piano competitions in Münich, Geneva, Leeds, Dublin, Vienna, Tokyo, Seoul. 


He is the president of the Fondation Internationale Nadia et Lili Boulanger and received the french distinction of Officier des Arts et Lettres.

He teaches at the Académie musicale de Villecroze in 1998, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2015.
