Irene Kudela, French citizen, was born in Yugoslavia, with french, czech, and russian origins. She began her musical studies in Prag,and graduated with a 1st Prize in both Chamber Music and Accompaniment at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris, where she subsequently taught from 1980 to 1994.

Fluent in 7 languages, Irene Kudela is regularly invited by the greatest Opera houses as a Music and language coach and Assistant.

Specialist of Janáček’s operas, numerous conductors and singers ask for her support when preparing these operas.

She appears at the Opera houses in Paris, Washington, Philadelphia, Roma, München, Bonn,Budapest,  Bruxelles, Helsinki, Göteborg, Oslo, Reykjavik .....and Festivals such as Salzburg, Aix en Provence, Glyndebourne, Savonlinna, Baalbek, Bregenz...

After being Mstislav Rostropovitch’s assistant for several years, Irene Kudela worked with Pierre Boulez, Kent Nagano, Myung-Whun Chung, Charles Mackerras, Evelino Pidó, Jiří Bělohlavěk, Guennadi Rojdestvensky ....

At the Paris Opera, she played the harpsichord for several operas by Mozart and Rossini, and was appointed Assistant Chorus Master in 199-2000. Later on, Irene Kudela was invited as a Chorus Master at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées and the  Choeur de Radio-France, with which she performed, amongst others, the French Creation of Rukoveti by Stevan Mokranjac in Serbian.

Irene Kudela also performs as a concert Pianist, in Paris,Tokyo, London, Beograd, Helsinki, Orange, Aix en Provence... She has accompanied singers like Barbara Hendricks, Camille Maurane, Galina Vischnievskaya, Alain Vanzo...  more recently Karine Deshayes, Marie-Adeline Henry, Eva Zaïcik, Aude Extremo, Kaelig Boché...

Irene Kudela also plays Chamber Music, particularly for Radio and Tv Broadcasts.

Irene Kudela has recorded a Darius Milhaud recital with  Jean-François Gardeil, for Maguelone.

She is an Artistic Advisor for Erato, Hungaroton, Teldec, Emi.

She gives numerous Masterclasses, for singers and pianists, especially at the Académie de l’Opéra de Paris, the National Opera Studio from London, the Bolshoi from Moscow, the Fondation Royaumont, and in Göteborg, Bonn, and Stockholm.

She contributes to the training of the young generation of singers, such as Florian Sempey, Justina Gringyté, Aude Extremo, Elena Tsallagova, Angela Brower, Laura Tatulescu, Stanislas de Barbeyrac, David Bižič, Erminie Blondel, Alexandre Duhamel, Cyrille Dubois, Marianne Crebassa...

Irene Kudela has also given lectures about Janáček, and for the TV channel Arte. She has translated The Case Makropulos into french for the magazine Avant -Scène Opera. She has also been Musical Advisor for several movies, and worked on theatrical adaptations with actors.

Irene Kudela is a winner of Yehudi Menuhin Foundation and was Musical Director for Katia Kabanova, awarded Best Lyrical Production in France in 2012.
