Christian Gangneron is a Normalien and a philosopher. he was playwright at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie and at the Ballet du XXe siècle, then production assistant at the Opéra de Nancy. In 1983, he founded ARCAL (research and creation workshop for lyric art). In this context, he stages baroque and contemporary chamber operas. From the Innsbruck Festival to the Avignon Festival, including Bakeley, the Operas of Nantes, Rennes, Metz, La Ferme du Buisson in Marne-la-Vallée and the Maison de la Musique in Nanterre, Christian Gangneron signs more than thirty bets on stage, drawing, among others, from the repertoire of Gabriel Fauré, Richard Strauss, Bizet (“Carmen”), Rossini, Mozart (“Don Giovannni”, “Cosi fan tutte”), Monteverdi (“L'Orfeo”), Handel (“Agrippina”). In 2000, he created an opera for children by Bernard Cavanna, “Raphaël, reviens! ”. Invited by Fenice to Venice in September 2000, he staged “Anacreon” by Cherubini. In 2001-2002, his staging of Vivaldi, “La Verità in cemento” and Stravinsky, “Le Rake's Progress” worked wonders, as did “Operetta” by Witold Gombrowicz, a daring proposition. Lover of small forms at the border of theater and music, he realizes from Cocteau and Darius Milhaud “Les Malheurs d'Orphée” and “Le Pauvre Matelot”, imagines a little musical and theatrical jewel that can go to cafes and unusual places, “Wolfgang Caro moi! ”Or light work around Verlaine.
